Introduction
Introduction, Kinds of Electric Charges, Generation of Electric Charge, Electric Cells...... Simple Cell, Dry Cell and Lead Acid Cell and Care of Lead Acid Cell.
Electricity has become the main source of energy in our daily life. It lights, heats and cools our homes, operates T.V. refrigerators, computers, radios etc. It is also needed to run large industries and electric buses. The uses of electricity are so numerous and so varied that it would make an immenese difference to our lives without it.
Static Electricity
Static electricity pertains to electrical charges at rest.
It is the process in which charging is developed by transfer of electrons through frictionor rubbing. For example
i. If a ballon is rubbed against the wall and then left on it, it stays there for some time.
ii. If a plastic comb is rubbed against dry hair, it is able to attract small pieces of paper.
iii. When nylon vest or shirt is taken off, a cracking sound is heard. Sometimes sparks are often seen. The objects showing such properties are said to be electrically charged. The charges so obtained on rubbing are called static (stationary) charges.
Electric Charges
As we know that when objects are charged by rubbing, sometimes there is attraction and sometimes repulsin.
